Madonna is on Mother Earth’s naughty list.
The material girl recently placed an order for 110 pounds of kosher beef for the last two performances of her “Sticky and Sweet” tour in Tel Aviv. WHOA!
While some believe that Kosher beef is less cruel, the truth is far more grim. And environmentally? Well you can bet Mother Earth is crying her damn eyeballs out. Let’s do a little math, shall we?
According to the Water Education Foundation – a non-profit organization that prides itself on being “the only impartial organization to develop and implement educational programs leading to a broader understanding of water issues and to resolution of water problems” – it takes 2,464 gallons of water to produce one pound of beef.
That means Madonna’s one order is using 271,040 gallons of water!!!!
Now consider this: federal regulations mandate that new shower heads must exceed no more than 2.5 gallons of water per minute.
A little number crunch on the old calculator will show that you could take 10,840 showers with the same amount of water used to produce 110 pounds of beef. Assuming you take one shower a day, this means you could shower for more than 29 years with the amount of aqua Mo wasted on her beefed-up order.

Madonna world tour breaks her own record
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Madonna smashed her own record for top-grossing tour by a solo artist, but the "Material Girl" had to play more shows in bigger venues, according to data released by concert promoter Live Nation Inc on Wednesday.
The pop singer's yearlong "Sticky & Sweet" world tour, which wrapped in Israel on Wednesday, pulled in $408 million after playing to more than 3.5 million fans at 85 shows.
It broke the record set in 2006 by her previous outing, the "Confessions" tour, which grossed $194 million from 1.2 million fans at 60 shows. A Live Nation spokesman said the previous trek featured many arena stops, while the latest one was centered on bigger stadiums.
On September 28, Madonna will release "Celebration" CD and video compilations, which will draw the curtain on her 27-year relationship with Warner Music Group Corp. In 2007, she signed a pioneering, 10-year, $120 million "360" deal with Live Nation covering recording, merchandising and touring.
The top-grossing tour overall is the Rolling Stones' $558 million "Bigger Bang" trek of 2005-2007, which drew 4.7 million people to 144 shows.

U2 has already topped the $100 million mark in tour grosses from the "360Ëš Tour" based on the box office totals reported from the first thirteen shows on the schedule. $41.4 million of that sum comes from the two markets reported during the latest reporting week, Amsterdam and Dublin. Three sellouts at Dublin's Croke Park (July 24-25, 27) totaled $28.8 million, the fourth-highest single gross on record. Heading that list is Bruce Springsteen's $38.6 million at Giants Stadium in 2003, The Spice Girls at O2 Arena in London last year with $33.8 million and the 1999 Woodstock festival which tops U2's Dublin shows by only a few thousand dollars.
Although U2 has jumped up to No. 2 on the overall Top Tour rankings year-to-date, Madonna retains the top spot with five more European stadiums reporting totals this week from her "Sticky & Sweet Tour." One of the stadiums, Stadio Friuli in Udine, Italy had a busy two weeks hosting Madonna on July 16th and Bruce Springsteen just one week later. Both tours played to sellout crowds of more than 28,000. In addition to Stadio Friuli, Springsteen also hit five Spanish markets to close out the European leg of his "Working on a Dream Tour". He joins Madonna and U2 as the only touring artists surpassing $100 million in ticket sales so far for the year.

"A razão para o cancelamento é por dificuldades logísticas imprevistas", disse Laszlo Borsos, diretor da empresa Live Nation em Budapeste, que supervisiona a turnê de Madonna no Leste Europeu.
"Não há problema com a venda de ingressos, absolutamente."
A imprensa eslovena informou que o show teve que ser cancelado porque as vendas atingiram apenas 7.000 ingressos de 63 mil planejados em uma cidade com uma população de 250 mil pessoas.
Em 1997, Michael Jackson ia se apresentar na mesma cidade, mas seu show teve de ser cancelado pelas poucas vendas.

The pop queen has been forced to cancel an upcoming concert in the eastern European nation's capital city of Ljubljana, though no one can quite agree as to why.
A rep for Live Nation insisted that the Aug. 20 gig was scrapped due to "unforeseen logistical difficulties"—and absolutely nothing to do with the indifference of Slovenians, who, per the local media, haven't welcomed Madonna with open arms (and trust us, this is one star who knows from guns).
"There is no problem with ticket sales—absolutely," Laszlo Borsos, the managing director of Live Nation's Budapest arm, said (presumably with a straight face).
Someone may want to tell reporters that.
Several Slovenian news outlets claim otherwise, reporting that just 7,000 tickets have been sold for the 63,000-seat venue.
Though even if the reports of modest-at-best sales are incorrect, the choice of arena may have been overly optimistic in the first place. The city only has a population of 250,000, which means a full house would have required the presence of a quarter of its residents.

Outros artistas e personalidades de destaque ligados aos mais de 450 itens oferecidos no leilão de arte pop e rock'n'roll no site www.gottahaverockandroll.com incluem John Lennon, Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Rolling Stones e Eminem. O leilão vai continuar até 5 de agosto.
O primeiro contrato de Jimi Hendrix do qual se tem notícia, no valor de US$1 e datado de 15 de outubro de 1965, pode ser arrematado por até 250 mil dólares, disseram os leiloeiros. Foi assinado por Hendrix e a produtora musical PPX Enterprises, de Nova York, prevendo que Hendrix tocasse e cantasse com exclusividade para ela pelo prazo de três anos.
O contrato -- no qual o primeiro nome de Hendrix está grafado "Jimmy" - lhe garantia 1 por cento das vendas de suas gravações no varejo.
Duas fitas cassete contendo 17 minutos de mensagens que Madonna deixou em 1992 e 1993 na secretária eletrônica de James Albright, um segurança que se tornou seu amante, estão previstas para ser arrematadas por entre 30 mil e 40 mil dólares.

Madonna's action belongs in an established neocolonial tradition, Biney argues, one in which Malawi's Supreme Court judges have played a role not dissimilar to that of slavery-era African chiefs as the facilitators of human transfer. Recalling the forewarnings of Kwame Nkrumah around the shadow of neocolonialism, Biney contends that retaining Africans' self-respect will depend on challenging dehumanisation and putting such subjugation to an end.
In 19th century England it was fashionable for the middle-class and aristocratic English gentlemen and ladies to return from the West Indies with a black male or female domestic servant to serve in their lavish homes; such Africans were at times painted with this genteel class sitting by their feet like pet dogs or accessories. It exemplified that they were well-to-do, had travelled and had money. It set a trend among the English elite. Today, the vogue among Western celebrities such as Madonna and Angelina Jolie has reconfigured this practice.
Madonna's recent adoption of Mercy James Chifundo, and the adoption by Angelina Jolie of an Ethiopian child, are not devoid of the usual patronising and unconscious Western stereotypes that have historically characterised how Europeans see Africans and have related to the African continent. In the 21st century new forms of colonial subjugation have engulfed Africa, racism has reshaped itself and Africans have continued to be co-opted as collaborators in their own subjugation, such as when Malawi's Supreme Court lawyers recently permitted the 50-year-old singer to adopt the 4-year-old Mercy along with David Banda, who was adopted in 2006 at the age of 13 months. How many wealthy Africans do we see going to the Romanian orphanages to adopt orphans there? And if they did, would it have the historical baggage that resides in the relationship between Africans and Europeans? Would it be morally or ethically correct if they did so?
A recent documentary entitled 'Madonna and Mercy: What really happened' broadcast in the United Kingdom on 29 June 2009 was presented by the British investigative journalist Jacques Perreti. Its force was that it unearthed two dangerous and important facts: first, the involvement of the Kabbalah sect, related to Judaism, in the social and economic fabric of Malawian society; second, the collusion of the Malawian government in Madonna's charity Raising Malawi that builds orphanages in the country.
